How to use sources and check the guidance

What each source establishes

• A statute, treaty or judgment establishes a rule within its scope. Its legal status and applicable version matter.
• Category rules and forms specify conditions and information for that procedure. A requirement in one category should not be transferred to another.
• An official service page helps locate a contact or submission channel. Legislation alone does not establish that a service is accepting applications.
• An analytical note compares documents and explains the editorial conclusions. An editorial recommendation is not an authority’s decision in a case.

The sources accompanying each page identify the documents, institutions, versions and relevant provisions. For browsing by topic, open “Official sources”.

Reading an answer for your situation

Start with the people covered and the type of harm. Then check the event date, territory, submission conditions and exceptions. Distinguish required information from possible supporting evidence and preparation suggestions. The absence of a recommended item does not itself create a new legal ground for refusal.

Admissibility, recording a claim, a compensation decision and payment are separate events. The guidance preserves that distinction; a link or on-screen message should not be treated as confirmation of every later stage. See “The Register, the Commission and payment”.

Ukrainian and English texts

Both versions explain the same pathway and preserve its conditions and exceptions. The Foundation’s English explanation is not an official translation of Ukrainian legislation. Use the relevant official text for legally significant wording.

Dates and changes

The date below the title is the material’s first publication date. Source links allow readers to check the relevant rules, documents and explanations. Use “Report an inaccuracy” to tell us about an error. A legal rule has its own commencement date and applicable source version. If a new act or official channel change occurs after the stated date, follow the current rule; retaining an older copy of the guidance does not suspend a deadline.

Report an inaccuracy

Use “Report an inaccuracy” below the publication. Provide the page address, passage and explanation; add an official source if available. Personal documents or a case history are unnecessary. A substantive correction should explain the change in meaning, without presenting a cosmetic edit as new research.
